• HELP! Frivolous Return Program

Hi, I recently sent in my 1040x and when I heard back from the IRS they responded saying that the another office would be better suited to handle my request. …and that other dept. is the “Frivolous Return Program.” Has anyone had this happen or have ideas as to how to respond? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks…Phil

      • I had never heard of the FRP before either, but doing some reddit searches it seems this is definitely a thing. The general consensus is that this department handles challenges to the constitution or sovereignty of the filer. Freedom people, is this a scare tactic? How do we your clients handle this?

        • I’m interested in understanding this from the Freedom People as well?

          • It seems like these posts are not monitored to respond to

            • Hi Jeff. Yes, thank you for your time and call. It helped a lot and put my mind at ease a bit. Unfortunately, the number they gave was not to a specific “frivolous return” phone line. I was on hold 3.5 hours, multiple people, etc. he put me on hold and then disconnected the line. I called back and spent another 2.5 hours to get get someone else that said there might have been just a line item error and to just wait until they contact me. It was a whole day wasted and I am still just waiting at this point. I would like to try and call again but I cannot spend the whole day on hold.
